Torontonians are loving the kind gesture Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt did for a fan who recently lost his mother.
On Monday, an X user named Blue Jays Dad (Grand) shared a heartwarming post about the death of his mother.
“My mom passed away today. She’s the reason I’m a baseball fan. She taught me to love the Lord, treat everyone with respect, and NEVER leave a baseball game early,” the post read.
Shortly after sharing the post, Bassitt reached out to the fan and offered him game tickets for as long as he’s a player on the team.
“DM me. As long as I’m here… I got your tickets. God bless your mom. We need more women like her,” Bassitt said on X.

“I have a ton of respect for you Chris,” another comment read.
According to SportsNet, the pitcher has pledged to donate $10,000 USD to the Jays Care foundation every time the team wins when he pitches this season.
The program is called “Bassitts Pitch In” and it supports baseball programming for children and youth attending summer school in under-resourced communities in the city. The program helps more than 2,800 kids.
