Toronto residents can now search for any power outages near their homes.
Toronto Hydro revamped its outage map where people can see outages by searchable location or ward. It also shows the number of people that have been affected and if there are multiple outages in surrounding areas.
In addition, it shows if there are any crews onsite when a power outage is happening and how long the outage will beuntil it is resolved.
There’s also a built-in weather monitor, and the map is updated every 10 minutes, according to Toronto Hydro.
Residents can also report an outage and sign up for email and text notifications for live updates.
The new features allow the public to access instructions on what to do to stay safe during emergencies, including opting for flashlights and candles, packing perishable foods into a cooler, and how to check tripped power switches.
