
Herstory has been made in the city, with the Toronto Tempo securing its first-ever win, and fans could not be prouder of the local WNBA team.
Toronto’s new Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team hit the court at Coca-Cola Coliseum last night for their second-ever official game and took home an 86-73 win against the Seattle Storm.
This win takes the local team to ninth place in the league, just above the Portland Fire and right below the Washington Mystics.

The coliseum was filled with excited fans, including Tempo part-owner and Chief Hype Officer Lilly Singh, The Beaches’ Leandra Earl, and former Toronto Raptor Chris Boucher.
Following the win, people in Toronto could not be prouder of the home team, taking to social media to share their support for the women.
“HERstory made!” one fan posted to X. “The WNBA love in Canada is through the roof!”
“Nyara locked it up on defense so deserved!” another fan posted.
“First win in Tempo franchise history and a walk off grand slam, man i love toronto sports,” another person shared.
While the win is also garnering new fans for the team.
“Marina Mabrey, I wasn’t familiar with your game,” one person commented. “I’m catching up on condensed games, the matches from last night. Toronto Tempo looks like it’d be really fun to watch.”
Following two home games to kick off the franchise’s inaugural season, the women are now heading stateside, taking on the Los Angeles Sparks, Phoenix Mercury and Minnesota Lynx in four games across the next week.
The Tempo will next play at home on Saturday, May 23, taking on the Portland Fire at 6:00 p.m. at the Coca-Cola Coliseum.
