Dumpling lovers in the GTA will soon have a new summer food festival to add to the many already existing on their list.
The Toronto World Dumpling Festival is set to take over Pacific Mall in Markham from July 17 to 19, bringing together chefs, cultural food traditions and creative dumpling dishes for a three-day outdoor event.
The festival will be held in the mall’s south parking lot at 4300 Steeles Ave. E., running daily from noon to 10 p.m.
According to the event flyer, the festival is being presented in partnership with the Canadian Eastern Culinary Association and is described as the inaugural Toronto World Dumpling Festival.
A celebration of dumplings, community, and culture
The flyer said the event will bring together acclaimed chefs and culinary professionals to showcase dumplings from around the world, highlighting everything from traditional recipes to more modern takes using new ingredients, techniques and presentations.
The festival is also Toronto’s first ACAAC World Dumpling Festival, with a focus on food, cultural diversity and international exchange.
Guests can expect a wide variety of dumplings representing different cultures and culinary traditions, along with live chef demonstrations, family-friendly entertainment and interactive activities.
The event’s theme is “One bite. Many cultures. Endless flavours,” and organizers are encouraging visitors to “experience the world through dumplings.”
Beyond the food, the festival is also meant to be a community gathering. The flyer said visitors will be able to connect through food, heritage and shared experiences, while also trying traditional dumplings that have been tastily reimagined.
The dumpling festival is part of Pacific Mall’s Summer Carnival Volume 2. This event includes free admission, an entertainment zone, beer and wine garden, lion dance, cheerleading, a family fun zone and a World Cup watch parties on July 18 and 19.
With food vendors, performances, and evening programming, visitors can also expect a night-market style atmosphere when the sun goes down.
