Heads up, commuters! The TTC is increasing scheduled service on some major routes starting this Sunday, May 12.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow made the announcement in Scarborough earlier today, joined by TTC Chair Jamaal Myers, TTC Commissioner and Councillor Paul Ainslie of Ward 24 Scarborough-Guildwood, and TTC CEO Rick Leary.
“We are investing more than ever in the TTC to ensure that buses arrive sooner, with more room on board, and that your commutes are faster and more reliable,” Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said in a statement.
“We are increasing service on routes like the 995 York Mills Express, which connects thousands of people every day to jobs, homes, and health-care in North York and Scarborough. As Mayor, I am focused on delivering better TTC service to all customers, without increasing fares,” she added.
The changes will see improved service rolled out across 24 bus routes, mostly during off-peak times, to improve over 140,000 daily customer trips. These changes will see service increase to 96 per cent of pre-pandemic levels, the highest since 2019.

- 111 East Mall
- 114 Queens Quay East (new)
- 122 Graydon Hall
- 123 Sherway
- 184 Ancaster Park
- 902 Markham Road Express
- 935 Jane Express
- 939 Finch Express
- 995 York Mills Express
The transit commission has said that these changes will provide more frequent and reliable trips, decrease wait times, and ensure more room on board for commuters.
The announcement also highlighted a 50 per cent increase in service on the 995 York Mills Express, a route that serves the employment and residential corridors between North York and the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus.
“We are improving the daily commutes for thousands of customers, including in our suburbs. I am especially pleased that this round of service increases delivers for the people of Scarborough by enhancing service frequency, capacity, and reliability on routes affected by the closure of Line 3,” TTC Chair Jamaal Myers said in a statement.
“The bus network is the backbone of public transit in Scarborough-Guildwood, and this increase in services is crucial for our residents who heavily rely on buses for their daily commutes and essential appointments,” Councillor Paul Ainslie said in a statement.
“With increased bus services and the implementation of transit-priority lanes on key routes in Scarborough, transit is becoming faster and more comfortable for riders.”
