A wild moment at Madison Avenue Pub over the weekend has taken the internet by storm, after a man fell through the roof while partygoers were celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Toronto.
The longstanding bar, located near Bloor St. and Spadina Ave., was holding an event called “Get Paddy’d at the Maddy” on Mar. 15. However, the event took an unexpected turn.
In a video posted to social media, a man sporting a bright green shirt is seen unexpectedly crashing through the skylight roof, plummeting down more than 15 feet, according to media reports. The impact sent his sneaker flying and caused him to land on vacant pub stools, narrowly missing a person’s shoulder.

The man appears to look unharmed, and although his back is covered in beer, he still quickly sprang to his feet, grabbed his sneaker and left the bar, nonchalantly. It’s unclear why he was on top of the roof.
The shocking incident happened while singer Craig “Duke” McRae was on stage performing to a crowd of patrons. He was midway through an acoustic rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” when the unexpected incident took place.
However, McRae truly embodied the popular phrase, “the show must go on,” and continued strumming his guitar, effortlessly keeping the rhythm. Without missing a beat, he spoke into the microphone: “What the f**k was that?”
In the video, you can hear someone saying, “That’s a lawsuit!” in the background as the man falls through.
Now Toronto reached out to the Madison for a comment but did not receive one in time of publication, and McRae also declined to comment.
The viral video, which has garnered 2.4 million views as of publication, has a lot of users online talking.
“The DOUBLE Irish goodbye on St. Patty’s weekend. Mad respect,” a user on TikTok commented.
“I like how that guy just kept strumming, consummate professional,” another user commented.
“I love how he casually puts his shoe back on and just walks out the door as if it’s just a normal thing haha,” a user said.
“Why is it always Toronto?” another person asked.
Online users were also quick to point out a woman in the background who appeared visibly shaken by the incident.
“They’re more worried about the girl who’s holding onto her boyfriend over the guy that actually fell through the roof. He walked off, but I hope he is ok,” a user said.
“Her reaction is valid because why is there a guy falling out of the sky and landing on me outta nowhere????” another user said.
