Winter blast: 10 cm of snow expected in Toronto with wind and bitter cold

Environment Canada forecasts 10 cm overnight with additional snowfall Thursday and gusty northwest winds.

  • Up to 10 cm of snow is expected to fall starting Wednesday evening and continuing into Thursday afternoon, accompanied by strong northwest winds and wind chills near −22 C.
  • Additional snowfall of five to 10 cm is possible on Thursday, with cold temperatures persisting and more snow expected into Friday.

Environment Canada has issued a yellow warning across Southern Ontario, calling for 10 cm of snow beginning on Wednesday evening and continuing overnight. High winds are also expected from the northwest at 30 km/h gusting to 50.

Snow is expected to continue into Thursday, ending in the afternoon with an additional five to 10 cm.

Wednesday is mainly cloudy, with a 60-per cent chance of rain showers or flurries early this evening before the snowfall. Temperatures are expected to fall to -12 C, feeling like -22 C overnight with wind chill.

On Thursday morning, the high of -9 is expected to feel like -22 C with wind chill before warming up to -16 C. The low is set to be -9 C. 

Friday will also see periods of snow, with a high -2 C.
