Former and past owners of Iphone 6s and 7s could receive up to $150 in settlement payments as part of a class action lawsuit over faulty Apple software.
Last month, the B.C Supreme Court approved a proposed settlement claim of $14.4 million to qualifying Apple customers after the company was accused of intentionally offering software updates that slowed a particular generation of its phones down.
Eligible claimants must have resided in Canada as of June 15, 2023, not including Quebec, where a separate lawsuit is happening, and have owned and or purchased an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, SE, 7 or 7 Plus smartphone device with iOS 10.2.1 or later (for iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, or SE) and or iOS 11.2 or later (for iPhone 7 or 7 Plus) and installed the software before December 21, 2017.
According to the class action lawsuit, Apple has agreed to pay between $11.1 and $14. 4 million CAD, though it says the settlement is not an admission of guilt by the tech giant.
Claims must be submitted no later than Sept. 2, 2024.
