Three Las Vegas casinos are taking the Canadian dollar at par until Aug. 31.
Adults-only Circa Resort and Casino, the D Las Vegas, and Golden Gate Hotel and Casino are launching this initiative. The face value discount covers beverage and accommodation pricing, as well as select gambling slots (up to $500 on participating machines) at each location.
All Canadians have to do is present a valid Canadian passport or government-issued ID to receive the discount.
The deal could save Canadians quite a bit, with $1 USD equally $1.37 CAD as of publication.
The decision by the CEO of the three properties, Derek Stevens, is rooted in his Canadian ties. In a press release, he explained that his father studied at the University of Toronto, so he “feel[s] a deep connection” to his Canadian visitors.
He added that his home looked straight across the Detroit River toward Windsor, and that he could “literally hear Canada – especially during Toronto baseball games,” which stayed with him.
He shows true Canadian spirit with Tim Hortons and hockey being his favourite things. He even opened BarCanada, a Canadian-themed hockey bar in downtown Las Vegas, where the offer is also extended.
