Internationally-famous Canadian actress Catherine O’Hara has reportedly died at 71.
The actress died on Friday, according to TMZ. The cause of her death is still unknown as of publication.
O’Hara is best known for her roles as Macaulay Culkin’s mother in the Christmas classics Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York and as Moira Rose in the hit Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek.
The actress has received several awards throughout her career, including an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for the comedy show SCTV Network 90 in 1983, and for Outstanding Lead Actress in Schitt’s Creek in 2020.
Her most recent work was in the popular comedy The Studio, produced and starred by Canadian comedian Seth Rogen, and launched on Apple TV+ last March. The role also granted her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
O’Hara’s last public appearance was on the red carpet of Apple TV+’s Primetime Emmy Party, on Sep. 14, 2025.
She leaves behind her husband Bo Welch and two sons, Matthew and Luke.
