Toronto hockey fans finally have a championship to celebrate. Just days after capturing the Calder Cup, the Toronto Marlies are bringing the trophy downtown for a championship rally with supporters on Monday morning.

On Friday night, the Maple Leafs’ minor league counterparts took the Calder Cup home for the second time in franchise history.

The team beat the Chicago Wolves 4-3 in Game 5 of the American Hockey League (AHL) championship, and won the series 4-1. This follows their first Calder Cup victory against the Texas Stars in 2018.

When and where is the rally?

The victory rally will be held at Real Sports Bar & Grill on Monday at 11 a.m., with on-stage programming and ceremony, followed by team photo-ops.

Celebrating a championship season

Friday’s victory capped off a memorable playoff run for Toronto’s top affiliate.

The Marlies clinched the championship with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Wolves in Game 5, earning the franchise’s second Calder Cup after its first title in 2018.

Several players delivered standout performances throughout the series, including goaltender Artur Akhtyamov, who stopped 27 shots in the title-clinching game.

The championship is also being viewed by many Leafs fans as a positive sign for the organization’s development pipeline, with several Marlies expected to push for NHL opportunities in the coming seasons.
