Events happening in Toronto this weekend: Aug. 9-11

It’s another exciting weekend in Toronto with so many great activities and events from food festivals, markets, comedy shows and live entertainment. 

This weekend, there’s Taco Fest, the National Bank Open, Jerk Fest and a Future & Metro Boomin concert, amongst other cool events. Here’s what you can check out:

Friday, August 9:

Taco Fest

Stuff your face with as many tasty tacos as you can at this year’s Taco Fest. The three-day fiesta includes authentic Mexican cuisine, cocktails, and of course salsa. The festival features over 175 variations of tacos for guests to indulge in. Tickets start at $17.50.

National Bank Open

Watch some of the best tennis in the world at the National Bank Open tennis tournament at Sobeys Stadium. Visitors who attend on Friday can see Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia vs. Taylor Townsend of United States and Jessica Pegula of United States vs. Ashlyn Krueger of United States on the courts. The tournament is happening until Aug. 12 and tickets range from $20 to $500.

Toronto Waterfront Night Market

The 15th annual Toronto Waterfront Night Market is back to bring people the traditional street style night market of Asia. This market will include pan-Asian food, live entertainment and cultural performances. It takes place at Hotel X Toronto from 6 p.m to midnight. Tickets range from $10 to $30. Each ticket also comes with a floating water lantern.

Saturday, August 10:

Harbour in the Front, Party in the Back

Have some laughs on Saturday at the Harbour in the Front, Party in the Back comedy show hosted by The Second City. There’s going to be a variety of hilarious sketches based on overconfident lifeguards, pre-wedding jitters, and demented game show hosts, amongst others. The show is from 8 to 9:30 p.m at 1 York St. Tickets range from $29 to $49.

JerkFest Toronto 2024

Eat some delicious jerk chicken and celebrate Caribbean culture at JerkFest Toronto. The festival will be filled with great food, arts, and musical performances from local and international artists. The family-friendly event includes a kid zone, as well as talented headliners like Marcia Griffiths, Farmer Nappy, and Ding Dong. The event is being held at Centennial Park from 10 a.m to 11 p.m. Tickets start at $20.

Picks and Bricks Country Festival

Try your luck at riding a mechanical bull at the Picks and Bricks Country Festival at The Distillery District. It’s a family-friendly event packed with country music, activities, and food. There’s going to be arts and crafts for kids, whisky seminars, BBQ and line dancing. It’s free to attend and is from noon to 9 p.m.

Sunday, August 11:

Salsa & Samba at Trillium Park

Dance to salsa and samba for free at Trillium Park on Sunday. In addition to dance lessons, there’s going to be local vendors selling yummy food and drinks as well. The first samba class begins at 5 p.m, but the event will go on until 10:30 p.m.

Canadian Latin Fest 2024

The Canadian Latin Fest invites guests to experience being “Canadian Latin for the day” by taking part in its cuisine, culture and heritage at Nathan Phillips Square. From 1 to 10 p.m, the free festival will offer food, kids events and live entertainment with more than 20 free performances.

Future & Metro Boomin – We Trust You Tour

American rappers Future and Metro Boomin are set to take over Scotiabank Arena for its “We Trust You” tour in support of their collaborative albums We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. The pair will hit the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $170.
