Start the new month off strong by attending some exciting outdoor events this weekend! 

There’s ton of activities happening across the city such as free festivals, summer markets, and local productions. Here’s what you can check out:

Friday, July 5: 

AFROFEST

Celebrate African music and culture at the largest free African festival in North America. Afrofest is back for its 36th year at Woodbine Park. The three-day festival features over 45 performances, more than 90 vendors and attracts over 100,000 visitors. Some of the music genres visitors can expect are Afrobeats, Afropop, reggae, rumba and so many more. The festival is free to attend and kicks off at  6 p.m. on Friday.

Wine Fest Toronto

Try wines from around the world at Wine Fest Toronto happening at Roundhouse Park this weekend. The festival will showcase over 100 wines from every corner of the globe, some of the notable wines include California, Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Rioja, and Emiliana Organic Vineyards from Chile, among others. Tickets are $50.52 each and the event is from 6 to 9 p.m.

Taste of The Middle East Toronto Summer Festival 2024

For the seventh year in a row, the Taste of the Middle East will be entertaining both locals and visitors with Arabic music, art and heritage. The free festival will take place at Nathan Phillips Square and includes over 60 local artists and hundreds of vendors to shop from. It starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m.

Saturday, July 6:

20th Annual TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival

The popular Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival returns to Toronto all weekend long. The salsa party takes place along St. Clair Avenue West from Winona Dr. to Christie St. There will be non-stop dancing, lots of authentic Latin American foods and many activities for the whole family. The free festival is from noon to 10:30 p.m.

A Glow in the Dark Paint Experience (Self Guided)

Embrace your inner painting skills and go on a self-guided glow-in-the-dark painting session at Artbox Studio & Gallery from noon to 10 p.m. Participants are free to paint whatever their heart desires as they listen to some feel-good music and enjoy the vibes. Tickets are $30 each.

BAM! In the Summer

Wychwood Barns has organized a Barns Art Market (BAM!) on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at 601 Christie Street. This market is to help support local talent from the community and give them the opportunity to display their work. There’s going to be more than 25 artists who specialize in jewellery, ceramics, painting and more.

Sunday, July 7:

86 ME: The Restaurant Play

The Supermarket Bar and Variety is hosting a production of 86 ME: The Restaurant Play, an immersive and interactive theatrical experience about Toronto’s restaurant life. The play is described as “a love letter to the brutal and romantic lives of Toronto’s bartenders and servers.” Not only is the show set in a bar offering a real experience, you can also order a beer from the actors themselves at any time during the show. Tickets are $15 each and the show starts at 7 p.m.

Riverside C’Mon – Local Summer Market

Spend your Sunday perusing the local summer market at Riverside Common Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s organized by Riverside BIA and offers lots of local food, vendors, musicians and free family entertainment such as crafts, games and face painting.

Puppy Yoga – Dachshund and Corgi

Yoga Kawa is hosting puppy yoga sessions across the city on Sunday. Each 35-minute class will be a calming and relaxing experience with yoga stretches and cuddles from adorable dachshund and corgi puppies. Kids are welcome to join as long as they are accompanied by a parent. Classes will be held at Art Bay Studio, Stackt Market, THAT Toronto studio, and Society ClubHouse at different times.
