If you’re a commuter in Toronto, the chances are you know all about Fahmee Bakery’s delicious Jamaican patties. And good news, they’re making a comeback.
“This year is the year we are coming back,” the bakery posted to Instagram.
“We went through COVID, inflation, not this recession. IT’s time for big moves to happen to get back what we lost in the past THREE YEARS. Our first big move this year is being the official patty at Bathurst Station, WHERE WE BELONG,” the post continued.
The news comes after the company’s production centre in Scarborough burned down almost two years ago, leaving them unable to produce the popular food for distributors the way they used to. Fahmee Bakery is a family-owned business famous for supplying TTC stations with patties before the fire halted operations in spring 2022.
The owner of Fahmee Bakery, Faiz Abdella, told The Toronto Star that he has been unable to secure deals with the other TTC stations that used to see his patties. While the patties have not been available at your favourite TTC stops for a while, Fahmee products are available at York University and U of T. They also have a physical shop on Lansdowne Avenue.
The bakery currently operates out of a commercial kitchen in the Keele and Lawrence West neighbourhood, The Star reports.
But online, people are happy to see Fahmee is at least making a comeback to Bathurst Station.
“Bathurst Station, where we first tried a Fahmee patty; it was love at first bite!!” one person said on Instagram.
“I used to spend tokens just to go in and get a box of frozen patties to eat for the weeks ahead,” another person said.
While other people want… more.
“Please take back Warden too!!! Best patties in Toronto.”
“TF is Bathurst. Y’all left brimley and Warden Station, that’s where you guys really belong.”
“WELCOME BACK! We missed our likkle snack, next Eglinton and back at Warden station,” someone else posted.
And some people have important questions.
“Where can I buy a box?”
