Canadians online are having all kinds of reactions to Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show at the Super Bowl.
On Feb. 9, The Philadelphia Eagles won their second title with a 40-22 victory against the Kansas City Chiefs during the 59th Super Bowl at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Lamar’s halftime performance began with popular hits that fans were betting on: “Squabble Up” and “Not Like Us,” which energized the crowd from the start along with actor Samuel Jackson’s narration as a modern day Uncle Sam during the entire halftime show.

The heated feud between Drake and Lamar threaded its way throughout the performance, causing some controversial reactions from those watching the game in Canada.
Meanwhile, Drake hasn’t expressed any reaction towards the halftime show on his social media.
In a Tik Tok video, a group of Canadian friends all shook their heads and said “Woahhh,” in unison when Kendrick slyly smiled after slipping in Drake’s name.
Other Canadians online weren’t hating on the rapper’s performance at all, and instead were happily vibing out.
Tennis star Serena Williams also made a surprise appearance during the show, perfecting the infamous crip walk in a blue skirt. Canadians wondered if her invitation was another dig at Drake because he used to date the athlete.
“Kendrick and Drake have a beef. Kendrick released two diss tracks against Drake, in both of which implying he’s a groomer. In ‘Not Like Us,’ he calls him a pedophile and outs him for grooming underage girls. This song has just won five Grammys and he performed it live at the Super Bowl half time,” one Reddit user commented.
Others are discussing the deeper cultural and political impacts of one of Hip Hop’s cross-country feuds and Lamar’s halftime performance.
“While the insults are leveled at Drake, the accusations can be leveled at a number of powerful people, think our current POTUS, JD Vance, Elmo, Andrew Tate, or any other number of figures doing the same shitty things Drake is accused of,” a Reddit user posted.
The ending of the show was signalled with a “Game Over” sign, prompting Canadians to believe the feud between Drake and Lamar is finally over.
“It’d be crazy if he never plays the song or mentions Drake again,” a Reddit user said.
