Toronto Raptors player Brandon Ingram isn’t just taking heat on the court, as he says he’s faced consequences after making a joke about his girlfriend, rapper GloRilla, that she didn’t like.

In a press conference on Saturday, Ingram was asked how he would prepare himself ahead of  Sunday’s playoff game. He then joked that GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, helps him out.

“Just try to go to bed extra early today,” Ingram addressed the crowd, according to reporter Josh Lewenberg. “My girl is around, so she’ll get on my nerves enough to where I just wanna go to sleep.”

Ingram returned for a different press conference following the Raptors’ win against the Cleveland Cavaliers during Sunday’s game.

When asked what Woods’ response was to her boyfriend’s initial comment, Ingram said she wasn’t happy.

“She lit me up,” he said with a smile. “I won’t be making that comment again.”

The playful remarks came after Woods featured on a song by artist Latto on Friday, released just one day before Ingram’s initial comment.

In the song, “GOMF (Get Out My Face),” Woods sings a lyric alluding to conceiving a baby with Ingram.

“Told Brandon imma have his son next time he leave it in,” Woods sings.

Ingram has not commented on the not-safe-for-work lyric.

Raptors win game 4

The couple’s jabs at each come around game 4 for the Raptors and Cavaliers.

The fiery game led to the Raptors taking the game and evening out the series, as they caught up to the US team’s previous two-game lead.

Despite a rough game when it came to getting shots in the net, ESPN said Ingram told reporters the team did not give up.

“We all communicated with each other, ‘just keep shooting,’” Ingram said.

And perhaps Ingram did get to bed early, as he was able to sink three of the four three-pointers by the team.

The Raptors clinched the win, going 93-89 against the Cavs. Game 5 kicks off Wednesday at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena, as Torontonians hope the team can keep up their momentum at the away game.
