October in Toronto brings a few things to mind: fall, pumpkin spiced lattes, and spooky themed bites and drinks. With Halloween just around the corner, there is no better way to kick off the haunted season than with a frightfully delicious cocktail. 

This Halloween, some of the city’s spookiest bars, restaurants, and pop-ups will be serving up their scariest brews, featuring everything from inky-black concoctions to kooky-spooky liquids and witchy variations on classic potions. 

Whether you are looking for a haunted bar experience or a drink with a sinister twist, the city is serving up some seriously strange and creative concoctions made for every spooky-season lover.

BLACK LAGOON AT THE WALRUS PUB

Dubbed the “Halloween pop-up of your nightmares,” this ultimate spooky cocktail experience is made for the less faint of heart and is back in the city, this time at The Walrus Pub in the Financial District, running until Nov. 2. 

Attendees can expect an immersive space filled with skulls, spooky mugs, dark lighting, and all things gothic horror, plus a new lineup of cocktails that capture the ghoulish season. This year’s drink menu features some eerie classics like the Creature’s Curse, Griselda’s Revenge, Nocturna Colada, Corpse Flower, and for those who are looking to try a spirit-free option, Death’s Door.

If you are looking for a haunted house party (literally) on the day of, then Storm Crow Manor is your one-stop Halloween experience spot!

Storm Crow Manor, a two-floor Victorian mansion, transforms into one of the city’s most terrifying party venues for Halloween. With its eerie, dimly lit rooms, creaky antiquated floors, and Gothic spellbound bars, the venue sets the perfect stage for a spine-chilling sip. 

Expect menu items like the Witches’ Brew, D8 cocktail shots, and feature cocktails, along with a rotating lineup of DJs, Tarot readings, karaoke, costume contests, and haunted walls (all made for the perfect Instagram post).

Looking to take a sip on the other side? 

Head over to Hellbar Toronto, where the entire venue is transformed into a fiery trip to the underworld, complete with spooky webs, red lighting, and décor scary enough to make you gasp. 

From Oct. 15 to Nov. 1, the space-themed Halloween cocktail pop-up bar will feature unruly concoctions like the Hemoglobe, Pit of Despair, Zombie King (served in a spooky tiki mug), and Plague of Locusts. 

Come dressed to scare or be comfortable in whatever you choose to wear!

FUNCTION BAR + KITCHEN

From Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, Function Bar + Kitchen will be transforming Midtown Toronto into one of the city’s ultimate haunted hideaways, offering three full nights of spooky drinks, music, mischief, and mayhem. Guests can enjoy spook-tacular live music performances (with a different show each night) and participate in costume contests while sipping on seasonal cocktails.

THE NIGHTMARE BAR AT CRAFTY COYOTE 

Address: 45 Front Street East 

Calling all Halloween and classic movie lovers!

This Tim-Burton-inspired pop-up brings horror-fantasy, theatrical entertainment, and kooky, spooky handcrafted cocktails to the city, with décor reminiscent of Burton’s signature eerie film style: mismatched teacups, black-and-white stripes, and a delightfully frightful atmosphere.

Guests can expect a 90-minute session with their entry ticket, which includes a welcome drink, a themed cocktail and snack menu, games hosted by on-site ghosts and ghouls, film trivia, costume contests, and more.
