You know Toronto is in peak summer mode when festivals are happening one after the other. This weekend, residents can expect to see just that as there are many amazing festivals taking place across the city. Here are six that you can check out:
Toronto’s Festival of Beer 2023
Grab a cold one and say cheers because Toronto’s Festival of Beer is back at Exhibition Place from July 28-30. This time, the festival has got a stellar line up of old school entertainment, such as Ice Cube, T-Pain, Third Eye Blind and more. It’s going to be three days of international, local and craft beers paired with good eats and even better tunes. Day tickets range from $70 to $177.
Aloha Fest
Get your hula on at AlohaFest Toronto where you can enjoy and celebrate Polynesian culture on July 29. Hālau Hula I Ka Lā (“Hula School in the Sun”) is inviting visitors to the eighth annual edition of the festival at Mel Lastman Square. This free event brings together Toronto’s Polynesian community for a day of live music, traditional dance, vendors, crafts and delicious food at the AlohaFest Marketplace. It’s happening from a.m. to 7 p.m.
Foodville: Afro-Caribbean Food Festival
Toronto’s Stackt Market is hosting Foodville, a festival dedicated to African, Caribbean, and Afro-Latin foods from noon until 11 p.m on July 29. The event aims to highlight the culinary and artisan work of over 30 local and international Black-owned vendors. In addition to food, the event includes activities for all ages, DJs, special guest chefs and live performances. Guests can jam out to the sounds of soca, dancehall, R&B, afrobeats and hip-hop as they taste authentic Afro-Caribbean eats.
Indonesian Food Festival 2023
Head to Yonge and Dundas Square on July 29 for the Indonesian Food Festival where you can witness the richness of Indonesian culture through food, music, dance and art. Organized by Toronto’s Indonesian Consulate General, the festival will include over 20 food stalls, pre-packaged food products, batik, handicraft products, traditional stage performances and contemporary music bands. The event gets going at 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
TD Festival of South Asia 2023
Now in its 21st year, the TD Festival of South Asia is returning to the city to provide visitors with a multicultural experience of tastes, sounds and sights of South Asia. This two-day festival features local businesses, food stalls, an arts and culture market, stage performances, a kid’s zone, workshops and roaming entertainers along the street. The festival says it’s their way of putting the “bazaar” back into the Gerrard India Bazaar. It is happening from July 29-30 on Gerrard St. E. from Glenside Ave to Coxwell Ave.
Scarborough Folk Fest
If you’re a fan of folk, check out the Scarborough Folk Fest on July 29-30 where you can experience the folk music genre in all its diverse forms. Organizers say Scarborough is home to the euphony of folk music from all over the world. At this free festival, Canadian and international musicians, including Indigenous groups, will meet in one space to share only the best in folk music. The event is at Thomson Memorial Park from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
