It is the end of an era for a household name in Canadian media.

MTV Canada will go off the air on December 31, 2024, the Canadian Press reports.

A Canadianized version of the popular American channel, MTV Canada, is owned by Bell Media. First coming to small screens in Canada back in 2006, the channel is known for popular reality shows, as well as the flagship show MTV Live, which was at one point co-hosted by “Schitt’s Creek’s” very own Dan Levy.

Bell Media told the Canadian Press that the cancellation of the channel comes amid “changing audiences” on specialty TV. The media conglomerate says that original Canadian content will not be impacted by the change.

While many people see the end of MTV Canada as a sign of the times.

“The world moved on, just like we did from B+W TV and rotary dial telephones. We are our own media,” one person commented.

And some people did not even know the channel was still available.

“I didn’t even know it was on air in Canada,” said one X user.

“It was still on the air?”
