Canadian pop culture just delivered its latest power duo: hockey series Off Campus and Toronto’s The Beaches teamed up on ‘Keep Pretending’ for Off Campus: The Mixtape (Extra Credit), and fans are buzzing with excitement.
Prime Video Canada premiered Off Campus in mid-May, a hockey drama that follows the love story between a university hockey star and a music student.
The show’s been a hot topic online, especially following the release of Queer hockey series Heated Rivalry earlier in the year.
But the show featured Toronto band The Beaches’ song “Edge of the Earth” in its second episode, expanding the band’s popularity to the Off Campus fanbase.
To make things cuter, the song highlighted the moment the main characters, Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, realized they had feelings for each other.
In that specific moment, Graham had played up the song, knowing it was Wells’ favourite band.
After the show’s release, The Beaches returned the favour, performing their song during the F1 Canadian Grand Prix alongside a video of that Off Campus scene.

But the collaborations don’t end there. Now, the band and hockey drama have teamed up to release the cover of ‘Keep Pretending’ for Off Campus: The Mixtape (Extra Credit).
The fanbase immediately ran to the comments.
“This is the most healing thing today. Thanks for releasing this,” one Instagram user wrote.
Prime Video also commented, calling this the “mixtape of my dreams.”
“If this mixtape were a class, I’d never skip a single day. Absolutely obsessed,” another commented.
“I wanted Belmont and Ella to sing a song together,” another criticized.
Though someone else thanked the album, saying it’s made their day.
“I was having a rough time at work last night, so seeing this post made my day. Even more so after hearing that Niall and Ella did a collab.”
In the show, Hannah Wells loved 1 Direction, so the show surprised Ella Bright (the actress playing the lead character) with a Niall Horan collab for Off Campus: The Mixtape (Extra Credit)’s track 21.
The fanbase was even more obsessed.
“OFF CAMPUS X DIRECTIONER WORLD COLLIDED,” one Instagram user stated.
“THIS COLLAB IS INSANE?!??! LIKE MONUMENTAL?!??” another wrote.
“Aaaaah, OMG the collab we never knew we needed,” another user said.
“What kind of multiverse of madness simulation am I living in right now?” another asked.
“She’s more professional than me, I would have been screaming, crying, throwing up,” another commented.
The Beaches also shared their thanks on an Instagram post, saying in part, “So excited we got to be a part of this, hope you love it.”
