Prepare for a captivating night of mind-blowing tricks, twists and turns at this new mentalism and mind reading show in downtown Toronto.
Beyond Mental Borders is performing its brand new show “Mind Over Matter” at the Rec Room, located at 255 Bremner Blvd. The 80-minute show promises to be an unforgettable experience full of impressive acts that explore one’s deepest thoughts and emotions.
In an interview with Now Toronto, Beyond Mental Borders Mentalist Armand Antony shares what attendees can expect from the city’s most popular mind-reading group.
“…Mind Over Matter is a brand new show that we created just because we’ve been performing our old show “Connection” for about four years. It’s a little bit different from what we were doing in the past. We’ve decided to do away with the big flashy Vegas style show and just have a lot of fun,” he said.
“…It’s a show for everybody. And it’s a little bit different than what people would normally expect a magic show to be. We don’t consider ourselves to be magicians. We like to consider ourselves people readers,” he continued.
So, what exactly do people readers do? Antony says they read everything from micro expressions, body language and facial expressions in order to better understand a person and their situation.
One of the best parts about interactive shows like this is being able to connect with others in the audience and participate in a unique shared experience. Antony says the show always receives different kinds of reactions from its audience.
“There’s people that are really excited particularly because we have so much audience participation. People love seeing their friends and family on stage. So, they don’t really know what to expect…There are people that walk away just trying to figure out what happened or what went on,” he explained.
“And then our personal favourites, it doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it’s really exciting. We break people, people that just walk away just in shock and not really knowing what just happened. Those are a lot of fun too. So, yeah, it’s a mix of everything,” he continued.
If you’re looking for a night out with friends or family, “Mind Over Matter” is the perfect activity that is not only entertaining but fun for the whole squad.
General tickets range from $25 to $30 but with the hipTIX program, tickets are only $10 for students between 14 to 29 years old with a valid I.D. The next show is set for May 19 at 5 p.m, click here to purchase.
