Toronto Raptors fans can get the chance to be featured on a popular director’s music video during the team’s “Goat Night” when they play against Orlando Magic.
On Tuesday, the team is honouring Canadian music video director and filmmaker Director X during its theme night. The GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) themed nights is dedicated to community icons who “helped define the city’s unique identity while celebrating our team’s history.” The new series aims to spotlight basketball, music and arts culture.
During these nights, the team wears its 2024-25 City Edition jerseys while they play on the fan-favorite court that features the iconic Raptor logo.
On Jan. 21, fans will pay tribute to the Toronto-born director and life-long Raptors fan. Throughout his career, Director X has created over 100 music videos and has worked with big names such as Drake, Ariana Grande, Rihanna and Justin Bieber.
“The Raptors really represent the growth of the city to me. We are very much Canadian, but the team connects us to the world and they embody how our culture has been embraced far and wide using the universal language of basketball,” Director X said in a statement.
“We’ve shown the world that something special is coming out of this city in sports, art and culture so I love being a part of the GOAT program to celebrate the team and city I love,” he continued.
HOW TO JOIN THE MUSIC VIDEO
To join the music video, fans can visit the activation outside section 111 and step inside a Director X-designed music video set. Afterwards, the digital copies of the content will be available for fans and in the end, the compiled footage will be turned into a Raptors music video premiering on a later GOAT Night.
The first 5,000 fans in Scotiabank Arena will also receive exclusive merchandise featuring a Director X-inspired design.
There will be three more GOAT nights at Scotiabank Arena on Feb. 12 as they go against the Cleveland Cavaliers and on March 28 and April 9 against the Charlotte Hornets.
