WHO: Johannes Zits, artist, presenting the video Style On Skin as part of The Colin Campbell Sessions today (Thursday, October 9) at the Tranz Tech Toronto International Media Art Biennial at Latvian House, 491 College, 416-351-1317. (See related story, page 61).
WHEN: Thursday, 4 pm.
WHERE: V Tape screening room (401 Richmond West)
CLOTHING: "This is the pair of red underwear I wore for the exercise scene in my video that is premiering this week. I bought them at an H&M in Amsterdam for about 7 euros. I'm also wearing some Make Up For Ever camouflage cream that I bought for the shoot from Mark at the L'Oreal counter in KaDeWe department store in Berlin. You can find Make Up For Ever products at Sears (Yonge and Dundas, 416-343-2111, and others) for about $18. I'm wearing Old Spice High Endurance Deodorant, available for $4.29 at Shoppers Drug Mart (69 Yonge, 416-364-1948, and others) and some Armani Mania eau de toilette bought in Schiphol during a stop-over, but you can get the fragrance at Sears - $90 for 100 ml, $70 for 50 ml. I also put on some Nivea for Men face care lotion, which is $7.99 at Shoppers. I've trimmed my body hair once since I shaved it all off for the video this summer. Using my hair trimmer is a lot more comfortable and easier than lotions or a razor blade. I always use a little Herbal Essences styling gel in my hair, $3.49 from Shoppers. And yes, my hair is naturally this colour. Ed trimmed it a little around the ears before my show that opened at MOCCA in mid-September."
STYLE: "Bold but not crass."
INTO: "Making art doesn't leave me with too much time on my hands, but I love to visit friends, go to movies and go out dancing, and maybe watch too much TV."
