The Re-Up Gang is sort of a side project of Clipse, featuring the duo teamed up with MCs Ab-Liva and Sandman. While Clipse were sidelined by record-label shuffles and litigation, the Re-Up Gang's mixtape series We Got It 4 Cheap was a way for them to continue to get material out until the dust settled.
Now that they have a proper label home again and promise a Clipse album in the near future, we have to wonder why they're pushing the first "official" (i.e., not free on the Internet) album with the Re-Up Gang. Much of this material has already been floating around in some form, and the newer joints aren't that hot. The biggest problem beyond the recycled rhymes is the production. There are lots of beatsmiths on hand here, but none even come close to doing what the Neptunes did for them on their proper albums.
