Back in June, R&B singers PartyNextDoor and Chicagos Jeremih announced they were working on a joint album called Late Night Party.
Instead, the Mississauga musician put out his third and best solo release, P3, via OVO Sound. The album finds him tempering his strip-club beats and lyrical bluster with the moody melancholia that has become his signature thanks to his contributions to his label boss Drakes If Youre Reading This Its Too Late mixtape and Views album.
The collaborative records release could be imminent: Party (aka Jahron Anthony Brathwaite) just announced that hes bringing Jeremih along on his 19-date Summers Over tour, which hits Rebel (formerly Sound Academy) on November 24. (The two also teamed up on P3 dancehall cut Not Nice.)
The show marks PartyNextDoors first major local gig since he played the Mod Club two years ago, and comes after his behind-the-scenes ascent as a pop maestro. He was the songwriter behind one of the biggest chart hits of the past year, Rihannas Work (which hes called a breakup song), and on RiRi fan favourite Sex With Me.
He also popped up on Drakes Views and co-wrote a song on Ushers Hard II Love album. Not to mention that his own single, Come And See Me, is one of the years best R&B slow jams and was blessed with an Erykah Badu remix.
