Team Canada’s first game on home soil ended with a 1-1 tie with Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the team advancing to the next group stage game with one point.

Thousands of fans headed to the FIFA Fan Festival in Toronto to watch the match and support the team, while soaking in the soccer vibes.
Now Toronto was on site covering the event, and spoke with some of these fans, who said they are still hopeful, despite the team not scoring a win.
One Torontonian, Kylie, said the tie is “a good start.”
“I was hoping to pull out a win, but 1-1, we’ll take it,” she said.
Other supporters said they were also happy with the team’s performance, commending them for their presence on the field.
“We were pressuring them the whole time, and it just went away, but we’re just happy with the tie. At least we didn’t lose,” Nathan said.
“We controlled the game, the majority of it. The outcome, [the] tie, we’ll take it, but I feel like the next game we should take it. Let’s go, Canada!” Mario added.
A different fan, Thomas, shared a bit more disappointment over the tie, emphasizing that he hoped Canada would have won.
“[The win] should have [come] our way,” he said. “It was so close to going in the net. We really wanted it.”
Team Canada will next hit the field at Vancouver’s B.C. Place, first on June 18 against Qatar, and then on June 24 against Switzerland.
Despite the tie on Friday, another fan, John, said he is reluctant to get excited about facing Switzerland, but still believes the team has a good shot at advancing.
“I’m happy about it. Who knows what happens with Switzerland, right? Switzerland is a hard game,” he shared. “If they end up losing, we still got a good chance to get in.”
