‘2-1’: Toronto predicts Canada vs. Bosnia result before World Cup clash

Supporters from Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina are showing their colours, making score predictions and marching toward Toronto Stadium ahead of the historic FIFA World Cup opener.

Canadian and Bosnian fans are making friendly wagers and showing off their team pride ahead of the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup opening match in Toronto on Friday afternoon.

Canada is set to take on Bosnia and Herzegovina at 3 p.m. at Toronto Stadium in the country’s opening match of the tournament. The game will mark the first FIFA World Cup match ever played on Canadian soil.

Hours before kick-off, fans from both nations were already filling Toronto’s streets, sporting team jerseys, waving flags and confidently predicting victory.

Just outside Union Station, The Brandon Gonez show spoke with supporters from both Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina who had gathered on opposite sides of the street ahead of the match.

Fans on both sides made it clear they were expecting their team to come away with the win.

One Bosnia and Herzegovina supporter predicted a 2-1 victory for his side.

“I will give you one goal as a respect,” the fan joked.

A Canadian supporter countered with a prediction of a 2-0 Canada win.

“How about you give us another one because it’s going to be two nothing. Let’s go!” he replied.

Supporters from both countries also planned pre-game marches to Toronto Stadium.

Bosnia and Herzegovina fans gathered at Stanley Park before making their way to the stadium, while Canadian supporters met at Trinity Bellwoods Park before beginning their march.

Toronto police have warned motorists and transit users to expect delays in the area as crowds make their way to the match.

With kick-off scheduled for 3 p.m., a star-studded opening ceremony is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
