TREBLE CHARGER

TREBLE CHARGER Detox (BMG) Rating: NNN Rating: NNN

With a decade of indie-darling-turned-major-label fame under their belts and still keeping the kids on their toes, treble charger are the perpetual Peter Pans of Canadian alt-rock. Hopefully, frontman Greig Nori will teach proteges Sum 41 the secret of never growing old: keep reinventing yourself. The trebles charged outta the gate in the mid-90s as a slightly crunchy indie rock band with undertones of Dinosaur Jr. These days they’ve left the discordant feedback and power ballads behind in favour of consistent, punchy pop-punk. From the aggro bluster of lead track Hundred Million to the swervy chorus of Can’t Wake Up, it’s clear treble charger are sticking to the paradigm established by their American Psycho hit. Detox is an action-packed set of jumpy major-key three-chord anthems made for pogoing.
