It is the end of an era for Breakfast Television (BT) with today marking the show’s last day broadcasting from its Yonge and Dundas location, and Canadians are reacting to the big moment online.

The show, owned by Rogers Sports & Media, has called the iconic downtown location home since 2009. Starting on Monday, BT will be broadcasting from the Rogers Campus at 333 Bloor St. E, Rogers confirmed to Now Toronto. CityNews and OMNI Television will also be making the move from Yonge and Dundas to Bloor St.

“BT last day at 33 Dundas St E studio! Monday brings on a new studio, a new building, a new show and some surprises too!” BT weather reporter Frank Ferragine posted on X today.

The Toronto morning show announced the move online on Wednesday.

“New desk, new hosts? Don’t miss BT on Monday, March 17th when ALL will be revealed,” the show shared in a video posted to X on Wednesday.

The announcement comes just a month after hosts Meredith Shaw and Sid Seixeiro were axed from the show. The duo had co-hosted BT since 2023, when Shaw replaced long-time host Dina Pugliese. It has since been temporarily led by sports and entertainment specialist Devo Brown, and CityNews host Melanie Ng, who returned after leaving BT in 2023 following an 11-year run.

Ahead of moving to a new location, the show auctioned off the white couch from its iconic set this week, with the proceeds going to Jays Care Foundation.

This is the latest development in what feels like a constant evolution for local media. Last summer, fellow Toronto news outlet CP24 moved operations from the Bell Media studio at 299 Queen St. W. to the CTV Scarborough campus.

There have also been changes to what Canadians with cable subscriptions can consume in recent years, with some popular programs taken off air. Bell Media cancelled MTV Canada at the end of 2024, while Corus Entertainment axed Entertainment Tonight Canada at the end of 2023.

“Haven’t watched since Sid and Meredith were fired. I now tune into another local Toronto morning show,” another person said.

“Nooooo!!! 🥺 I don’t want BT to leave 33 Dundas St East studio. It’s a perfect place and perfect home for this.”

Meanwhile, others are guessing who the new hosts will be.

“Cheryl Hickey and either Tracy Moore or Sangita Patel,” speculated one person online.

“Maybe Pooja and Gurdeep will end up on BT from CHFI,” another person guessed.
