Peel Regional Police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store in a Mississauga mall over the weekend, marking the latest in a string of similar incidents, according to police.
The brazen robbery took place on Oct. 18 shortly before 8 p.m., inside the Peoples Jewellers store at Erin Mills Town Centre.
Soon after, video footage of the incident surfaced on social media showing several masked individuals smashing display cases and running off with stolen jewelry as shoppers and security looked on.
According to Peel Police, officers discovered multiple smashed cases upon their arrival and an “undetermined” quantity of jewelry had been stolen.
“No physical injuries were reported, and medical assistance was declined at the scene.
The investigation is being led by the Central Robbery Bureau, “ police said to Now Toronto in a statement on Monday.
Police added that previous incidents have happened at this location, however it’s unconfirmed how many times the store has been targeted.
“While similar incidents have previously occurred at this retail location, it is too early in the investigation to determine whether they are connected,” police said.

Part of the Central Robbery Bureau’s investigation will include assessing potential links between cases, police said.
“All investigative avenues are being pursued to ensure a thorough and successful resolution,” police said.
Now Toronto reached out to the parent company of Peoples Jewellers, Signet Jewelers, for comment but did not receive a response back in time for publication.
The robbery is the latest to take place at a mall in the Greater Toronto Area this month alone. Earlier this month, two separate Michael Hill locations were targeted at Fairview Mall and Burlington Centre just days apart.
Anyone with information, including dash cam footage or surveillance footage, is being asked to contact police.
