For someone who swore they would stay out of Toronto’s municipal election, Doug Ford is doing a poor job.

This comes after the premier of Ontario not only let everyone know who he is endorsing to be the next mayor of Toronto but has also made it clear who he does not want to see secure the city’s top job.

On Tuesday, Ford revealed that he will be voting for mayoral candidate and former Toronto police chief Mark Saunders.

He also shared that he’s honoured to have Saunders’ election sign on his lawn.

Just a day later, during an announcement in Burlington on Wednesday, Ford said that if front-runner Olivia Chow won the election it would be an “unmitigated disaster” for the city.

“You know, I’ll tell you, if you want my opinion, if Olivia Chow gets in, it’ll be an unmitigated disaster. Businesses are going to be fleeing Toronto as far as I’m concerned,” he said.

“God forbid Olivia Chow gets elected, your taxes are going up at an unprecedented rate.”

Following his comments, many residents began to troll the premier by calling him out and claiming he’s just “self-reflecting” on his own leadership.

“Ford as Ontario Premier is an unmitigated disaster,” one Twitter user said.

“Ford hating her is more than enough reason for me to vote for her,” another said.

Others agreed with Ford, however, stating that Chow might have a “kind heart and intentions, but her policies will result in Toronto becoming a second class city.”
