Toronto will be hosting a number of Remembrance Day events on Saturday to honour and pay respects to all Canadian veterans and fallen soldiers who served our country during war, military conflict and peacekeeping.

On Saturday, many Canadians will stop what they’re doing at  11 a.m. for two minutes of silence to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. On Remembrance Day, the TTC says members of the Canadian Armed Forces and war and peacekeeping veterans can receive free rides all day. They may be asked to show their service medals/ribbons to receive this offer. One companion will also be allowed to ride the TTC free of charge.

At 11 a.m, the TTC will pause all service for two minutes in honour and memory of Canada’s fallen. All subway trains will halt at station platforms. Bus and streetcar operators will stop their vehicles at a regular service stop prior to 11 a.m. and remain there during the moment of silence. Wheel-Trans operators will hold their buses at a safe location.

In addition to free rides, veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members can receive free hot drinks from Tim Hortons.

Tim Hortons announced that all locations will provide free hot beverages of their choice and size, to those who served the country on Nov. 11 in recognition of Remembrance Day. All they need to do is wear their uniform or show appropriate identification to be eligible for a drink.
