He’s dubbed the hot dog GOAT for a reason.
Hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut, is throwing the ceremonial first pitch at the Rogers Centre at the Toronto Blue Jays game against the Chicago White Sox Tuesday, to mark the first Loonie Dogs night.
Presented by Schneiders, Loonie Dogs Night is a beloved tradition that returns for home games on every Tuesday throughout the season. Fans will be able to purchase $1 hot dogs from several concession stands around Rogers Centre.
Some would say there is no other man fit for this occasion, as Chestnut is the most famous American competitive hot-dog-eating legend in the world. He’s won the Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest seven consecutive times and overall has won 15 out of the 16 contests, according to his organization Major League Eating.
He is recognized for holding 50 world records in multiple mass eating competitions, with his most notable and recent accomplishment being in 2021 at Nathan’s Famous hot dogs when he consumed 76 hot dogs and buns in only 10 minutes.
In 2022, Chestnut would go on to earn his 15th title after eating 63 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes once again. Until today, he remains the current undefeated champion.
And believe it or not, he doesn’t just down the dogs, but a variety of other foods as well. He recently set records in cherry pies in July 2022, along with jalapeno poppers, waffles, and so on.
On the field, the Blue Jays will aim for a third-straight win Tuesday.
The first pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET.
