Prenup Pub, a beloved mainstay in Toronto that has served beer lovers for over a decade, is shutting down early next month.
Located on College St. in the heart of the Discovery District near the University of Toronto, Prenup Pub has held the reputation of having “the highest number of imported beers in Toronto” since its opening in 2014.
In an Instagram post from a day ago, the owners of Prenup Pub announced, “We are saddened to announce that Prenup Pub will be closing its doors on February 8, 2026.”
Despite their closing, the post also made mention of a new sister location, Blessing in Disguise, that will have “everything you loved about Prenup Pub,” including “45 European draught beers,” “unique Mediterranean vibes,” and “the same cozy pub vibes.”
Online, reactions ranged from shock to resignation, with one user writing, “I’m surprised because it was always packed whenever I went there (even on normal days)” and wondering if the area is poised for redevelopment as some of the neighbouring shops have already closed.
Another user wrote, “The hospitality industry is getting rocked right now, and this is only going to get worse. Sad and scary times for restaurant and pub owners.”
