The veteran pitcher took to X on Tuesday to thank the city and the country he represented during his five seasons with the Blue Jays.
“Toronto, so many great memories with amazing people that I will cherish forever! Getting to represent an entire country was truly an honour that I never took for granted! Love you all!” Gausman wrote.
The post comes just days after the Blue Jays traded the 35-year-old to the Cubs ahead of the MLB trade deadline, bringing an end to five memorable seasons in Toronto.
During his tenure, Gausman became one of the club’s most reliable starters, earned an All-Star nod in 2023 and quickly established himself as a fan favourite.
A fitting goodbye
Gausman’s farewell echoes comments he made before the trade became official, when he described signing with the Blue Jays as “the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Following the announcement, tributes poured in from teammates, manager John Schneider, the Blue Jays organization and fans, many of whom thanked Gausman for embracing both the city and the country throughout his time in Toronto.

Although he’ll now continue his career with the Cubs, it’s clear the connection between Gausman and Toronto remains strong.
