Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says it is investigating after a group of drivers were caught stunt driving along Highway 401 in Mississauga.

On Sunday, a video submitted to 6ixbuzz showed several cars drifting and racing between lanes. Some drivers were also seen with fireworks at the meet up as well.

According to the OPP, there were two incidents reported, the first was shortly after 2 a.m. at Highway 401 eastbound in the Mississauga  and Mavis roads  area and the second occurred around 3:20 a.m. at Islington Ave. in the eastbound lanes as well.

“Both incidents are being investigated by OPP Highway Safety Division (HSD) Crime Unit. To date, no charges have been laid but it is an active investigation,” OPP Sgt. Ted Dongelmans said in a statement to Now Toronto on Monday.

Police are advising witnesses to report these incidents immediately and to avoid the area.

Online, some users argue the drivers in the video should be charged for reckless driving.

“All of these people should receive lifetime bans from driving,” one X user said.

“Doing a street takeover is already crazy. Doing in on the 401 is bizarre behaviour,” another user said.

“This is absolutely alarming! Stunt driving poses a serious danger not only to the drivers involved but to everyone on the road. Shutting down a major highway is incredibly concerning. I hope authorities take swift action to address this issue and ensure our roads are safe. It’s disappointing to see such reckless behavior that undermines the law and community safety,” another user commented.
