
Candidates can officially sign up to run for Toronto’s top job.
As of Monday, people interested in running for mayor can file their nomination to run in the summer by-election.
Candidates came bright and early to city hall to put their bid in. So far, Beaches-East York Councillor Brad Bradford and Toronto-St. Paul’s Councillor Josh Matlow filed their nomination, along with former city councillors Ana Bailão, Giorgio Mammoliti and Rob Davis, Scarborough-Guildwood MPP Mitzie Hunter, former police chief Mark Saunders and former Toronto Sun columnist Anthony Furey, among others.

To run for mayor, a person must:
- File a nomination paper with original signature
- Provide proof of qualifying address within the city of Toronto
- Pay a $200 nomination filing fee
- Provide at least 25 endorsements of nomination from eligible Toronto voters with original signatures
Until a nomination is filed, a person cannot raise or spend money on their campaign.
Nominations must be filed in person at the Toronto Elections City Hall office. Candidates have until 2 p.m. on May 12 to file their nomination for mayor.

Advance voting will be held from June 8-13 and Election Day is set for June 26.
