THE EVENT

TIT TALES Fundraiser for Willow Breast Cancer Support, with a one-act topless play, one-of-a-kind bra auction, performances and more. Tonight (Thursday, October 5), 7:30 pm-midnight. $20, stu $15. Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen West. 416-538-1234, www.willow.org.

WHO: Shoshana Sperling

WHAT: Women of all kinds, including a Guelph troupe who perform topless, talk about their breasts in a benefit for Willow, a drop-in for women with breast cancer.

THE APPEAL? “I’m one of those people who are proud of their breasts – they don’t have to be only for sex or breastfeeding. Anything we can do to have fun with our breasts without being exploited is a good thing.”

HAVE YOU EVER PERFORMED TOPLESS? “Yes, in my show Sheboobie. It’s an amazing feeling when you really want to do it.”

WILL YOU BE TAKING OFF YOUR SHIRT? “I have no plans, but they may emerge.”

WHAT ABOUT GUYS WHO COME TO THE SHOW FOR THE WRONG REASONS? “Slimy guys who are into seeing tits and jerking off tend to stay home with their computers. This is a women’s event. Those guys will not feel comfortable here.”

WHAT’S YOUR PERSONAL CONNECTION TO THE BREAST CANCER ISSUE? “Like many women, I feel strongly that we should be spending money to fight breast cancer and not wars.”

CUP SIZE? “34F.”

IS THAT A GOOD THING? “It has its pluses – big tits are fun when you’re having sex. But I do get back pain, and when I walk or run I have to wear a double sports bra. Otherwise, I’ll give myself black eyes or break a guy’s ankles if he’s walking beside me (I’m short).”

FAVOURITE BRA STORE? “Secrets from Your Sister. It saved my life. And owner Jennifer Klein is the one who put Tit Tales together. She surveyed her customers to find women who wanted to tell anecdotes about their breasts.”

FAVOURITE SLANG FOR BREASTS? “I like ‘cans’ cuz it’s kinda crass. Or I refer to my front bum because my cleavage looks like an ass.”

LEAST FAVOURITE? “Puppies. I don’t understand that one.”
