Toronto is expected to get a taste of summer weather this week with consistently high temperatures that are nearing record-breaking levels.
Environment Canada says regions across Southern Ontario, such as Toronto, London, Kitchener, Hamilton, Windsor and more, will see temperatures as high as 26 C this week.
Today’s high is expected to be 18 C with a mix of sun and clouds.
Katrina Eyk, senior meteorologist for Environment Canada, says temperatures are above seasonal as the typical temperature for this time of the year is 11 C..
Despite the forecast teasing potential record-breaking temperatures, Eyk says it is not likely Toronto will break any.
“For example, Thursday looks like it’s going to be, for Toronto, about 24 degrees and the record for that day is 27.1 degrees Celsius and that was set in 1977,” Eyk told Now Toronto.
Toronto residents can expect to see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 20 C on Tuesday. On Wednesday, sunny skies all around with a high of 25 C.
Thursday could be the hottest day of the week with temperatures possibly reaching up to 26 C.
On Friday, the city is set to go back to a high of 25 C with sunny skies.
On Saturday, the temperature is expected to drop slightly to 20 C with a 60 per cent chance of showers. Sunday is set to receive a 60 per cent chance of showers with a high of 13 C.
