The lull in outdoor activity has been swiftly replaced by an expansive selection of indoor fun that’s keeping locals and visitors entertained, occupied and cozy. Here’s a breakdown of leisurely, inclusive and family-friendly activities taking place inside this winter.
Reese Witherspoon Book Club Lobby Library
On Jan. 12, Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel will launch Reese’s Book Club.
Guests are invited to peruse the full back catalogue of Reese Witherspoon’s book club favourites, alongside local book selections, and are free to read inside the hotel’s lobby library or buy copies to take home.

CIRCUS – Cabaret Immersive Dining Experience
Spice up your dinner plans with a little razzle-dazzle!
Dig into a two-course meal alongside a troupe of fire breathers, hula-hoopers, contortionists, and aerial performers at this circus-themed immersive dining experience.
The 90-minute show provides ample time to admire the performances and for guests to enjoy their meals.
CIRCUS will run on select dates until Feb. 29 at soon-to-be revealed locations that guests must book in advance.
Early bird tickets start at $99.
Let’s Get Physical, and Shoe Customization at the Bata Shoe Museum
Get your blood pumping at an 80s inspired aerobics dance class, or try your hand at jazzing up a pair of shoes at the Bata Shoe Museum (BSM).
The dance class will be led by choreographer, educator, and dancer Melissa Bartrem, this adult dancercise class is designed for all skill levels.
Arrive clad in your best 80s dance attire, sweat out the January blues, then make the most of the museum’s exhibitions after the fact.
Tickets to the dance class grant attendees full access to the museum.
It will take place on Jan. 13 from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.
Admission to the class costs $15 per person and $5 for BSM members
If you’re looking for something less strenuous, explore your style with artist Jasmin Pannu at her guided shoe design class.
Materials such as paint and brushes are included, but participants need to bring their own new or used shoes to get creative with, clean white sneakers are recommended.
This adult workshop is designed for all skill levels.
Tickets cost $55 for general admission, and friends of BSM can attend for $50. The class is on Saturday, Jan. 20, 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Bata Shoe Museum (327 Bloor Street West.)
Family Screening: Frozen 2
Revisit the magic of Elsa and Ana at a family screening of Frozen 2.
This is the perfect kid-friendly activity for a snowy winter’s day. Children are encouraged to arrive dressed as their favourite Frozen characters, to sing their hearts out and dance along to the film’s iconic soundtrack.
Tickets cost $15 for adults and $7.50 for children aged 12 and under.
The screening is on Jan. 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema (506 Bloor Street West).
Drag Bingo Brunch
We love drag, we love bingo, and we need brunch; throw them all together and you get Drag Bingo Brunch, the ultimate combination of entertainment, eats and friendly competition.
Taking place upstairs at Sneaky Dee’s, Drag Queen Messy Margaret will host four rounds of bingo on Jan. 14 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and perform a set of lip sync numbers to hype up the crowd.
Prices range from $10 to $15, tickets include a bingo card for each round.
Tickets do not include food or beverage. This event is 19+.
Asian Comedy all-stars with James Roque
Laugh your head off at this Pan-Asian comedy variety show featuring the best Asian comics in Toronto.
Headlined by Kiwi-Filipino comedian, James Roque, the show will include a slew of hilariously talented comedians, including Winyen Wu (China), Jabar Bains (India), improv by Affirmative Reaction (Pan-Asia) and more.
Tickets cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
The show is happening on Jan. 20, at 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. at the iconic Rivoli (332 Queen St. West).
Puppy Yoga
Get in a workout and play with puppies at this kid-friendly puppy yoga class!
Stretch, play and cuddle the cutest little pups sure to inject much needed energy and joy into your day.
Puppy yoga is a great way to boost your mental well-being, calm your nerves, and fit in much needed exercise.
Participate in 35 minutes of mild yoga stretches with the assistance of fluffy puppies and a yoga instructor.
Guests will also get 20 minutes of cuddle time.
Kids aged five and over are welcome. Anyone under the age of 18 must attend with a parent or guardian.

Puppy Yoga starts on Jan. 21 at 11:30 a.m. with a second class beginning at 1:00 p.m at 260 Carlaw Avenue, Unit #202A.
