Basketball has always been more than just a game. It brings people together, inspires the next generation, and creates moments that go beyond the court.
That’s what Rec In Da 6ix is building with a community focused weekend that brings together competitive basketball, entertainment and giving back.
After a successful first year, Rec In Da 6ix is coming back for its second edition, Mania weekend July 24-26 with an even bigger goal: creating an unforgettable experience that connects the community with some of the biggest names in sports and culture.
Featuring All- Star games with professional athletes, NBA players, collegiate athletes and content creators, the event helps bring together different worlds under one roof in one weekend.
“Toronto is full of so much talent in different industries that deserves to be recognized in our city. Having them give back to the community will inspire youth to chase big dreams just like they did.” Daniel Alabi, Co- Founder of Rec In Da 6ix tells Now Toronto.
One weekend can create memories, but lasting impact is built throughout the year.
REC In Da 6ix is known for its high energy all-star games featuring a range of athletes but the organization’s commitment to the community extends well beyond the event itself.
The organization came with RecMas Youth Basketball Camp that happened last December, where young athletes are given the chance to learn from elite trainers, compete with their peers, and hear from popular athletes who understand the power of perseverance, discipline, and leadership.
The camp focuses on developing basketball skills in an high energy environment while also bringing campers to mentors and role models who inspire them both on and off the court.
“The process behind this was us wanting to inspire the next generation of youth through basketball, help bring our communities together, and raise money so we can help youth in underserved communities and I feel that we are on the right track.”
Deji Ajayi, Rec In Da 6ix Co- Founder adds on: “I hope Rec In Da 6ix leaves an everlasting impact for the next generation as these young athletes strive to be leaders of tomorrow.”
As Rec In Da 6ix enters its second year, the goal is to continue growing, continue giving back, and continue creating a space where basketball brings people together.
Whether you’re coming for the games, the athletes, or the community atmosphere, Rec In Da 6ix is shaping itself into more than just an event, it’s becoming a celebration of Toronto’s basketball culture and the people who make the city special.
