Pride weekend is closing out with a bang today with the iconic Pride Parade, which starts at 2 p.m. and will run until approximately 6 p.m. There will be thousands of must-see floats, community organizations, and performers taking the streets.
But the Pride Parade isn’t the only event taking place on this glorious Sunday. From the street fair to Dirty Disco, here are a selection of can’t-miss events to check out before the weekend is over.
Streetfair
- Location: Church Street, from Gould Street to Hayden Street
Held all three days of Pride weekend, the Streetfair is a chill block party with hundreds of handmade goods and clothing vendors, food trucks, and games. Among this year’s vendors are Toronto-based designer Alysia Myette, who makes fanny packs with funky prints, and L’Amour Propre, an accessories brand that sells pins, bold jewelry, and housewares.
Family Pride
- Location: Church Street Public School, 83 Alexander St.
Family Pride is a great way to involve kids in pride celebrations. Held at Church Street Public School, this event features a weekend full of children-friendly storytelling, performance art, live music, and arts and crafts. Family Pride is where queer kids can feel free to be themselves.
Dirty Disco
- Location: OLG Central Stage, 512 Church St Toronto
Uniting Toronto’s best producers and DJs, Dirty Disco is a rave that carries well into the evening,ending at 11 p.m. This year’s theme is “We Won’t Stop” featuring Jerome Robins, JELO, Ticky Ty, DJ Chiclet, and more.
Sober Oasis
- Location: Paul Kane Parkette, 58 Wellesley St E
Sober Oasis is for Pride festivalgoers who want to have fun without alcohol and drugs. The event features drag performances by Gei Ping Hohl, Sandy Joint, and Dottie Dangerfield as well as DJ sets and live performances. Sober Oasis runs until 11 p.m.
Green Space Festival: Treehouse
- Location: Barbara Hall Park, 519 Church St,
The best parties are the ones that start early and end late. Green Space Festival: Treehouse fits the bill to a tee. Starting at 1 p.m and ending at midnight, the event features drag performances, DJ sets, delicious drinks. All money raised goes directly to The 519, a Toronto-based community centre serving underrepresented 2SLGBTQIA communities. Looking to party even longer? Head over to the afterparty and dance until 4 a.m.
Pride Sunday T-Dance
- Location: 553 Church Street, Boutique Bar
Quench your thirst this afternoon from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Boutique Bar’s T-Dance on Church Street. DJ Cheena will be spinning tunes that will get you onto the dance floor, with a margarita in hand, obviously.
Blocko…to the Max
Location: Mill St. Wellesley Stage, 15 Wellesley St E
Curated by Blackness Yes!, Blocko…to the Max is the longest running and largest pride celebration each year at Pride. The all day event runs from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. and features Black, African, and Caribbean DJs, drag artists, performers, and dancers. If that’s not enough, Blocko keeps the vibes going with an afterparty that runs until 2 a.m.
