The official start of summer is just a few days away, and Toronto is gearing up for the season by offering unique celebrations, events and parties to add to your weekend’s sunny itinerary. 

From the Taste of Little Italy to the Yorkville Exotic Car Show, here are some events happening in Toronto this weekend. 

FRIDAY, JUNE 13

Luminato Festival

Head over to the Harbourfront Centre this weekend to participate in extraordinary art experiences at the Luminato Festival, which is taking over the neighbourhood until June 22.

All weekend, attendees can quite literally step into art at the Terceradix Luminarium walk-in sculpture, full of ever-changing light and colour. This Friday, the Grammy Award-winning artist Larnell Lewis’ tribute to Quincy Jones showcases the artist’s influence in jazz, R&B, and more. Peruvian director Chela De Ferrari also brings a creative and inclusive interpretation of Hamlet, featuring eight actors with Down Syndrome in celebration of human individuality and dignity from Friday to Sunday.

The Harbourfront is also going to be filled with beautiful sounds as Miigwech Collective brings a selection of amazing Indigenous artists that will feature everything from country to blues on Friday and Saturday. Also on Saturday, Flow State brings performances, workshops, and sound baths to celebrate South Asian music and culture. Free music programming continues on Sunday with Lulaworld curated by Lula Music and Arts Centre, featuring Colombia’s La Pambelé orchestra, Afro-Colombian group Kombilesa Mí, and Sonic Sancocho’s vinyl sets.

Taste of Little Italy 

Head over to the Little Italy BIA for a three-day festival that will take over an entire neighbourhood on College St., promising a dynamic celebration packed with droolworthy eats, live music, and all things Italian.

Taste of Little Italy runs along College between Bathurst and Shaw streets, inviting festivalgoers to experience over 200 local vendors, street performances, a pasta eating competition, and a brand-new main stage. 

The Taste of Little Italy runs from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday  and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Toronto Queer Sports Pride Party

The Toronto Queer Sports Pride Party is hosting one of its ultimate Pride celebrations with a night full of fun, fierce energy, sports, and non-stop Pride anthems meant to keep attendees dancing all night long.

Celebrate all things ink with a three-day international festival at the Toronto Metro Convention Centre. 

Starting on Friday, the 25th edition of the Toronto Tattoo Show NIX will bring the ink community together for a festival celebrating tattoo culture, lifestyle and art.

Attendees will see more than 500 national and international tattoo artists at the ticketed, legendary, and longest running tattoo convention in the world. 

The Toronto Tattoo Show NIX show runs from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Island Eats Food & Travel Festival

Head over to Yorkville to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Yorkville Exotic Car Show on Father’s Day!

The show will be taking over part of Toronto’s Bloor Street to showcase the finest and most stunning lineup of exotic cars. 

Take a look at automotive makes like Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and more while displayed along the iconic Bloor-Yorkville red carpet. The event promises to offer a unique blend of cars, fashion, and culture – for free.
