
Toronto, you’re in luck! It’s going to be a busy weekend full of festivals, free events and lots of new activities to try out.
This weekend, there’s the annual Do West festival, free art exhibits, a naked bike ride, and an artisan market, among other events. Here’s what you can check out:
Friday, June 7:
Do West Fest 2024
Toronto’s favourite Little Portugal festival is back. The Do West Fest celebration includes lots of live music, authentic Portuguese eats, arts and community. It takes place along Dundas Street West spanning 16 blocks from Ossington Avenue to Lansdowne Avenue. It’s free to attend and is from 6 p.m to 11 p.m.

2024 Toronto Jewish Film Festival
Take part in the 2024 Toronto Jewish Film Festival where you can watch over 80 films and television series from all over the world. This year, the festival has become more accessible as well with dozens of virtual screenings and more than 40 in-person screenings in Toronto. The festival runs until June 9. Chromatic Playgrounds Art Exhibition by Cindy Au
The Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery presents the Chromatic Playgrounds Art Exhibition by Cindy Au, an array of abstract paintings that play with one’s imagination with its 3D forms and bright colours. This free exhibit is from 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m.

Saturday, June 8:
Riverside Eats & Beats
Try some yummy eats and feel the beats at the 2024 Riverside Eats & Beats Streetfest. This festival features local markets, family-friendly activities, beer gardens and entertainment. There will also be free activities such as magic shows, face-painting, live music and so much more. The festival covers ten blocks along Queen Street East between the Don Valley to just past De Grassi Street. It begins at noon and ends at 6 p.m.

World Naked Bike Ride Toronto 20 Year Anniversary
Nude cyclists will be taking over the streets of downtown Toronto on Saturday. The World Naked Bike Ride is an annual protest against the over usage of oil and urban pollution and promotes better cycling safety. The ride is free to join, with festivities starting at Coronation Park at 10 a.m and the actual ride beginning at 1 p.m.

“Bearbie”
If you’re a fan of both Barbie and The Bear, then you’re going to love “Bearbie,” a show about the first immersive dining experience in Barbieland. The new restaurant hires the hottest chefs from Chicago, but among them, one has an ulterior motive that could change Barbieland forever. Tickets range from $33 to $51 and the show takes place at Comedy Bar Danforth.

Sunday, June 9:
Toronto Artisan Market – Trinity Bellwoods Park
Spend your Sunday at Trinity Bellwoods Park for an artisan market where you can shop and support local artists. There, you can find unique trinkets such as original art, handmade jewellery, ceramics, skincare and more. It’s free to attend and runs from 11 a.m to 5 p.m.

Afro Ascension at Luminato in the Square
Celebrate the start of the Luminato festival with Afro Ascension at David Pecaut Square. It’s a free party that highlights the global impact of Black artists from Canada and abroad. The evening will be headlined by Grammy-winning, Somali-Canadian rapper K’naan, and will also feature other noteworthy talents such as Vox Sambou, William Cepeda, and La Dame Blanche, among others. The party starts at 1 p.m and ends at 11 p.m.

Earth: An Immersive Journey
The Royal Ontario Museum is inviting you to its new exhibit “Earth: An Immersive Journey.” It’s a multi-sensory tour that will take visitors through several of the planet’s vibrant ecosystems and the wonders of the world. Tickets range from $21 to $35 and the museum is open from 10 a.m to 5:30 p.m.
