There’s no denying that winter is approaching, but that doesn’t mean there’s a shortage of things to do in Toronto!

From community walks, to Halloween-themed events, to cocktail parties, here’s what you can do in the city this weekend. 

Friday, Oct. 24
Monster Mash at Sankofa Square

Halloween might be a week away, but Toronto is already getting into a spooky mood. To get ready for the chilling date, you can attend this free Halloween party at Sankofa Square. This open for all event will feature live DJ performances, spooky attractions, and an outdoor screening of the spooky classic Ghostbusters. 

The party is taking place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sankofa Square at 1 Dundas St. E., and is free to attend. For more information, click here

Still not over TIFF? Not to worry, since there are plenty of events for cinephiles in the city to check out.

The Planet in Focus festival is one of them, uniting cinema and environment, and featuring some of the best current films that address climate issues and solutions. The event offers productions from all over the world, engaging audiences of all ages with feature films such as The Silent Sanctuary and Humans Build the Biggest Nests

The event is taking place over the entire weekend across different venues in the city, with festival passes going for $50 and single-film tickets for $15. For more information, click here.

Toronto Cocktail Festival

Calling all cocktail lovers! If you are into toasts and sips, you simply can’t sleep on this event that is celebrating the city’s vibrant drinks scene, featuring yummy creations by some of Toronto’s best award-winning bartenders and chefs! 

The opening gala event on Friday will have over 30 open bar stations across the city, with more than 50 amazing cocktails to sip, savour and celebrate. There are a series of events to check out throughout the entire weekend, including performances, DJ dance parties and cocktail stations. 

This event is happening across multiple locations between Oct. 24–26. Tickets range from $15-190. For more information, visit here

Toronto Ski and Snowboard Show 2025

This week’s dropping temperatures are signaling the arrival of winter time. To prepare for some wintry fun, the Toronto Ski and Snowboard Show is back this year, with lots of family fun, a fashion show, and a Winter Games area. 

This weekend, the show will be hosting nearly 20,000 winter enthusiasts to check out some of the latest equipment, products, travel opportunities and deals to gear up for the winter, and some fun ski and snowboarding activities too! 

This festival is running from Oct. 24–26 at the Better Living Centre at 195 Princes’ Blvd., and adult admission tickets start at $20. For more information about the event and to check out tickets, click here

Comedy is Art Festival 

This can’t-miss comedy show is bringing more than 20 comedians from across and beyond the city to unwind, laugh, and have fun after a long week. This year’s incredible lineup includes Andrew Phung and Friends, Not Hamilton Improvised, Nkasi Ogbonnah’s Afronaut, and much more.

Celebrating their sixth year in the city, Comedy is Art is bringing “Our Cities On Our Stages,” with a full day of improvised presentations and interactive activities that reflect inclusion and diversity. 

Comedy is Art kicked off at The Theatre Centre on Thursday, and will run until Saturday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets start at $25 and are available here

Meet the Walkers: Walk With Us!

A group of friends who went viral earlier this year for spending time together by walking long distances are now inviting other Torontonians to join them on a community walk this Saturday, to raise money for a local food bank.

The community event includes two options for walkers, a 20- and 10-kilometre walk. For those who can take a longer stroll, the walk will kick off at the Hendon Park, located at 50 Hendon Ave. at 12 p.m. The shorter walk will follow at 3 p.m., which will begin at the Alexander Muir Memorial Garden at 2901 Yonge St. Both of the walks will end at Fort York Food Bank, which will be receiving the funds raised from this walk.

Halloween Haunt UP

If you’re looking to get into the Halloween spirit, here’s one more spooky event. Presented by the UPtown Yonge BIA, the Halloween Haunt Up  will be filled with loads of treats, live music, costume contests, pumpkin carving, and more. 

The party runs along Yonge St. between Rowhampton Ave. and Alexandra Blvd. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it is free to attend. For more information, click here

Riverdale Farm Boo Barn

What better activity to welcome Halloween than pumpkin carving? The Riverdale Farm is hosting a weekend of spooky fun, with pumpkin carving, crafts, face painting, and exploring. 

This spot is already a great activity in the city, giving visitors year-round access to a taste of farm life, with livestock, handwork, and craft programs. This weekend, to get into the Halloween mood, the farm is hosting a “Boo Barn” with themed activities for the whole family. 

This event is taking place at the Riverdale Farm at 201 Winchester St. from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Note that this is a cash-only event. While admission is free, a $5 donation per pumpkin carving is suggested. For more information, click here

East End Music Fest 

Spend a fun day in Toronto’s east end, while celebrating local artists and musicians! The East End Music Fest is back, bringing a range of musical performances by local artists, such as Samantha Martin and Delta Sugar, Marker Starling and Annika Zee. 

The event will include drink and food vendors, as well as a silent art auction, featuring remarkable work by local creatives, including Ashley Snook, Carolina Reis, Marnie Brunton, and more. 

The East End Music Fest is kicking off at The East End Food Hub at 1470 Gerrard St E., at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $45, and are available here
