
October means the start of a spooky season but fortunately for Torontonians, we’ve got a little bit of everything in store this weekend from phenomenal art, musical events to a spine-chilling séance.
There are several activities to check out this weekend such as the Fred Again concert, Nuit Blanche and The Stanley Garrison Seance, among others.
Friday, October 4:
Fred Again – Places We’ve Never Been Tour
English DJ Fred Again is in town to spin some of his famous tunes such as “Delilah (pull me out of this),” “Billie (Loving Arms)” and “Marea (we’ve lost dancing)” at Scotiabank Arena for his Places We’ve Never Been tour. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Goblin: Macbeth
Tarragon Theatre has put a ghostly twist on William Shakespeare’s Macbeth with its new play Goblin: Macbeth. Friday marks its opening night where three goblins are set to take a stab at the Scottish noble. The play is described as a unique blend of comedy and tragedy. Tickets are $72 for adults and $20 for students. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Spooky Season Movie Month
Start your Halloween festivities with a free screening of the 1980 horror classic The Shining at Soulpepper Theatre. The film follows winter caretaker Jack Torrance and his family as they settle in the disturbing and sinister Overlook Hotel in Colorado. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the screening starts at 7 p.m. at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts.

Saturday, October 5:
Nuit Blanche Toronto
Grab your friends and explore contemporary art around the city for this year’s Nuit Blanche. The annual event transforms public spaces into incredible art landscapes. The free event includes over 80 art projects by local, national and international artists across the city. It starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m.

Picklefest Food + Drink Festival
If you’re a big fan of pickles, you must attend the Picklefest at Henderson Brewing. The festival features over 50 vendors offering all things pickle in both food and drinks. It starts at 11 a.m and ends at 5 p.m. Tickets are $12 each and kids under 12 years old get in for free.

Joy in the Park
Enjoy an evening of joyful live music, dance performances and complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider. Joy in the Park is an all-ages event that begins with live music from Moskitto Bar and also includes a dynamic dance performance by Artists in Motion (AIM). The free concert takes place at David Crombie Park from 6 to 8 p.m.

Sunday, October 6:
2024 Canadian Cancer Society Run for the Cure
Support the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer awareness month by joining its Run for the Cure marathon at Sir Winston Churchill Park. This year marks 33 years of the marathon and the campaign is known to raise millions of dollars. It’s free to sign up and begins at 9 a.m.

HalloAnime
Anime enthusiasts can head to Aura Concourse Shopping Mall for HalloAnime, an event where you can meet fellow anime fans, listen to panels, peruse merchandise vendors and have fun with Japanese animation. It’s free to attend and is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Stanley Garrison Seance
Mindreader Jaymes White is inviting you to witness The Stanley Garrison Seance at Exhibition Place, one of the city’s infamous haunted locations. The terrifying and disturbing experience is not recommended for the faint of heart and only those 18 years of age and above can attend. The event runs all month long until the end of November. Tickets sell fast and the session lasts two hours. Tickets are $68.66 per person.
