Bruno Mars didn’t just return to Toronto this weekend, he turned the Rogers Stadium into a giant singalong party.
After severe weather forced Live Nation Ontario to postpone Saturday’s concert, fans arrived Sunday night ready to let loose. Mars rewarded his fans’ patience with nearly two hours of nonstop hits, slick choreography and the kind of crowd control only a handful of artists can pull off.
Rogers Stadium turned into one giant singalong
By the time “24K Magic” blasted through the stadium, the mood had fully shifted from rain-delayed frustration to full-on summer concert euphoria.
And, by the second chorus of “Treasure,” most of the sold-out crowd at Rogers Stadium was already screaming the lyrics back at him.
Fans travelled across Canada for Bruno Mars in Toronto
For many fans, the show was years in the making.
One concert-goer who flew in from Winnipeg told Now Toronto that Bruno Mars’ music had been part of his life since childhood.
“Since I was a kid, I’ve always listened to him… he’s very important to me,” he said.
That emotional connection could be felt throughout the stadium all night long. Mars’ setlist leaned heavily into nostalgia, but never in a way that felt stale. Instead, the show moved like a victory lap through nearly two decades of pop, funk and R&B hits.
Every major hit raised the energy level inside the Rogers Stadium to another level, especially when Mars performed “Treasure”, “That’s What I Like” and “Uptown Funk” – tracks that entire sections of the venue couldn’t stop moving to.
Even newer songs from The Romantic landed well with the live audience. Concertgoers told Now Toronto tracks like “I Just Might” and “Cha Cha Cha” blended naturally into Mars’ Sunday night set beside older fan favourites. The singer’s ability to move effortlessly between throwback soul, funk-pop and emotional ballads was at its peak on the first night of The Romantic Tour in Toronto.
Anderson .Paak steals part of the show
Anderson .Paak’s appearance during the Silk Sonic segment gave the show an entire new life, bringing another burst of energy to the show.
The moment Anderson .Paak walked onstage, the Rogers Stadium lit up with fans cheering their hearts out. The chemistry between the two stars was on display through back-and-forth banter, synchronized swagger and performances of songs like “Smokin Out the Window” and “Leave the Door Open” – moments that drew some of the loudest reactions of the night.
At one point, Mars slowed things down with a string of emotional hits including “Talking to the Moon,” “When I Was Your Man” and “Die With a Smile,” turning the massive venue into something that briefly felt intimate.
Then came the confetti.
White confetti poured across Rogers Stadium during “Marry You,” while couples hugged, danced and filmed the moment across the venue. Fans online also shared videos of a marriage proposal inside the crowd that ended with an enthusiastic “yes.”
Bruno Mars proves why he’s still one of pop’s best performers
What stood out most throughout the night wasn’t necessarily the production itself, but how relentlessly entertaining Mars remained from start to finish.
He rarely stood still. Every transition felt rehearsed to perfection without feeling robotic. Even between songs, Mars carried the kind of charisma that made the massive stadium still feel connected to him.
“He is the best entertainer all around,” one fan told Now Toronto after the show. “The whole night, you’re just jumping.”
For some fans, the night wasn’t perfect. Concert-goers pointed to long transit waits and crowd flow issues leaving the venue, concerns that have followed Rogers Stadium since opening. But mostly, the night ran more smoothly than many fans had expected following earlier concerns around Rogers Stadium logistics.
Organizers introduced additional transit and crowd management measures for Sunday’s show, allowing the experience of getting in and out of the venue feel more organized than anticipated.
But once the music started, most of those frustrations seemed to fade into the background.
By the encore performance of “Dance With Me,” fans were still singing, dancing and trying to squeeze out every last moment of the night.
And after Toronto spent most of the weekend worrying whether Bruno Mars would even take the stage at all, that felt like part of the payoff too.
So, did Bruno Mars already “make it up” to Toronto as promised after rescheduling Saturday’s show? Or, is he still saving something bigger for the final show?
With four shows remaining, fans are already wondering what comes next.
