Filming for season two of the viral Canadian queer series Heated Rivalry is underway, and some have rumoured that a film set close to home may be part of the production.

In an Instagram post on Monday, the team behind the popular hockey show posted a picture of a film slate in front of what seemed to be a potential scene in the upcoming season.

The description “Day 1” confirmed to fans that production behind the series has begun, possibly on Monday.

And while the Heated Rivalry buzz has returned, Torontonians and Mississauga residents noticed there may have been a production filming at an Olympic-sized ice rink in the west end city, which would possibly correlate with the hockey show’s filming schedule.

While there is no confirmation of what the production was at Iceland Mississauga nor if it was a taping of Heated Rivalry, a customer service representative at the arena confirmed to Now Toronto over the phone that there was a production filming on location on Aug. 17. Unfortunately, the representative added that staff do not have information on bookings at the arena, and scheduling of the space comes from a third party organization.

The hockey show was also not listed as a production currently being shot in Mississauga, according to the film and industry website Production List.

The official studio confirmation for Heated Rivalry has not been publicly released.

The show’s first season saw filming locations all across Ontario, including popular spots in Toronto like rooftop venue Lavelle, Joni Restaurant, and SoHo Hotel Toronto. Other key locations included Hamilton, Guelph and Muskoka.
