One of Toronto’s newest and hottest multi-use developments, The Well, is officially complete after unveiling its Wellington Food Market this week.
The Market is the final addition to the area and includes a curated mix of more than 50 food and beverage vendors to bring a delicious and diverse culinary experience for Torontonians.
The 70,000-sq. ft. space features unique food options including Rosie’s Burgers, La Cubana, and award-winning hotdog franchise JAPADOG, the first ever location in Toronto. From fresh produce to casual dining, the market serves as an inviting place for both locals and visitors. Organizers say additional merchants are set to open in the next coming months.
“Creating the ideal mix of merchants resulted from a thoughtful, curated, and strategic process informed by extensive culinary research and outreach beyond Toronto’s borders,” RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust SVP of Leasing and Tenant Experience Oliver Harrison said in a press release.
“This collection of food options cannot be found under one roof anywhere in the city. It pays tribute to the city’s rich culinary history and offers an inspiring balance of new and well-known staples to its food scene,” he continued.
So, how did this downtown development come to life? It all began in 2016 when The Well started construction.

Fast forward six years later in 2022 when The Well’s downtown office building, 8 Spadina Ave. opened its doors for the first time. Since then, more office, residential and retail occupancy continued to be created.
In Nov. 2023, The Well marked its official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the completion of its commercial, residential, and retail spaces on the site, and to kick off the first year of holiday programming.
Now, the opening of the Wellington Market marks another major milestone for the massive complex.
In addition to the market, visitors can enjoy The Well’s existing culinary offerings such as its 12 luxury restaurants including Aera and Lulu Bar Toronto.
The Wellington Market is open seven days a week at 486 Front St. W.
