- Grammy-winning R&B artist Mya will headline SankofaFest with a free performance on Aug. 22 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Sankofa Square.

Grammy Award-winning singer songwriter Mya will bring her iconic voice and performance to a free, all-ages concert in Toronto later this month.
The staple R&B artist has been announced as a headliner at the SankofaFest on Aug. 22. Her performance promises to bring more than two decades of hits, from Grammy Award-winning hit “Lady Marmalade” to “Case of the Ex (Whatcha Gonna Do)” and “Best of Me.”
Mya will be taking the stage during the second day of the festival on Aug. 22 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., bringing a city-rocking performance.

Newly-expanded festival celebrates Black culture
The R&B artist’s performance is among a series of other incredible shows happening throughout the festival, with Saturday’s programming bringing other renowned names in Black music culture to perform.

After last year’s success, SankofaFest is now being extended into a three-day celebration of African diasporic culture. The event will take place from Aug. 21–23, bringing music, art, film, food, and community together to Sankofa Square.
On Friday, Aug. 21, the festival will kick off with an open-air marketplace, featuring food vendors, pop-up performances, and an immersive runaway show with African Fashion Week Toronto.
Friday will be followed by a Saturday full of incredible performances, which will feel like a real Block Party, full of the best sounds.
Finally, Sunday will feature a community day, filled with family-friendly programming, outdoor film screenings, youth basketball, artist showcases and presentations, and DJ workshops.
The festival is free to attend and no registration is required.
